New Job!!!!

I wanted to hold off posting this until I was certain I had made the right call, but I have moved up in the world of restaurants. I am leaving my mall-adjacent restaurant for a white table cloth restaurant in Midtown. It is more work, but overall it’s less stressful, more money and virtually devoid of the staff drama that plagues the mall restaurant.

Basically it’s like going from high school to college. It’s more work, but its more worthwhile, and the people are better. You still work closely with people who end up getting to now you very well, but the big difference is the midtown restaurant staff is older, wiser, and calmer. In a sense I gave myself a promotion.

I’ve been there a little over a month and I know I’ve made the right decision. The last shift I worked at the mall restaurant was a Thursday night shift where I worked four hours and made $24. I’ve made two or three times routinely in small sections at the midtown restaurant during lunch.

More than it’s a chance to start over. I let my frustration at the mall job overwhelm me some days/weeks/months and I acted in a way that I’m not particularly proud of. You don’t get that many chances to move up, and I’m really happy I found one. I’m starting this job with a list of things I want to improve on and I think it’s a much better fit.
